Owl

Bussssssy bee. I'm talking about myself. I've been a busy bee of late. School and full time job is tough! I feel like I have zero time for anything. Actually I know I have zero time for anything. Uggh. Never satisfied I guess.

Anyways here are two things that happened this weekend.

This. Also known as my monster of a head of hair.

Annnnnd this. I bought the cutest pink owl ring this weekend at the mall. Some store. I can't remember. And it turned my finger green in like 2.4 seconds. But I still love it. And wear it. Yes, I'm five. Okay then ... bye! xo

Big Willy Style

Stumbled upon this Architectural Digest article on the home of Will and Jada Smith this afternoon. So many things about their home design have been added to my someday-I-will-do list. Love their big entry door and the wide open spaces with pops of color. No way their marriage could be on the rocks in this abode!

Loooove the front door! What a good looking family!
I. Die. This living room is gorgeous to the extreme!!

Seems Moroccan style, no?

Such a beautiful Malibu home! One day I will have a great big front door like that, along with a living room that completely opens up to the outside. One day people. One day.

Super Duper Awesome Secret Starbucks Drinks!

Stumbled across the best kept secret the other day. Starbucks has Secret drinks! Like secret-not-on-the-menu-feel-cooler-for-asking-for-it drinks! I had no freaking clue you could get all this amazingness at Starbucks. I feel lied to. Or left out. Or dumb for not looking this up before.

Prepare to have a major Starbucks craving after this. xo

GREEN EYE
A Red Eye or Black Eye, sure -- that's one and two extra shots of espresso in a regular drip, respectively. But those that go for green get a sure-to-jack-you-up three shots of espresso boost to their cup of coffee.

DIRTY CHAI
A Chai latte (hot or iced) with a shot of espresso added in. And if you want two shots? That's called a "Double Dirty" or "Extra Dirty" Chai.

ZEBRA MOCHA
Sometimes also called a "Penguin Mocha," this drink combines the white chocolate mocha with the regular mocha for those who can't pick a favorite. Or, if you really want to take it to the next level, ask to have raspberry flavoring added for something called the "Red Tux" Mocha.

CAKE BATTER FRAPPUCCINPO
helllllooo amazing-ness!
Perhaps a little deceptively named, as there are no actual piece of cake or cake batter in it, this beverage has vanilla and almond syrup added to a Vanilla Frappuccino.
SUPER CREAM FRAPPUCCINO
Like to go heavy on the whipped cream? Ask for a "Super Cream" version of your Frappe and you'll get half a cup of whipped cream blended in.

AFFOGATO-STYLE FRAPPUCCINO
This one probably classifies more as an in-the-know than a "secret" one. Order any Frappe "affogato-style" and you'll get a shot of hot espresso added on top of your drink as opposed to having it blended in.

TRIPLE C'S
And the award for best alliteration in a Starbucks drink name goes to the Three C's: Cinnamon Dolce Latte with caramel syrup and chocolate mocha syrup.

Who knew?! I didn't! Sooo the Super Cream and the Cake Batter Frapp are on my to-do list!

Starbucks Secrets found here.
Hope everyone is doing well. I've been MIA for a while now. Been so busy with travel, school, work, boyfriend...you name it, it's on my list. Wishing I could be a stay at home blogger, writer, artist, Starbucks drinking cool girl. Sigh. One day...one day!

But for now I am a working fool. Oy.

Prayers For The Armstrong Girls

I was just reading about Taylor Armstrong and her divorce yesterday on Perez Hilton. If y'all don't know who she is, she's one of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. As many of you know I'm addicted to the housewives shows and it made me soooo sad to hear that Taylors soon to be ex-husband committed suicide yesterday. He was found in his home. My heart goes out to their daughter Kennedy who is only like 5 years old or something. Poor thing won't even get to know her dad. What a selfish thing for him to do. I'm sure Taylor is hurting big time right now and I hope she knows this is not her fault. Say your prayers for the Armstrong girls tonight. I'm so shocked right now I just had to post after reading this article on my lunch break. Suicide is not the answer people. :(

Lost

Has anyone ever felt completely lost at this age? I'm 24 going on 25 this November and I feel completely lost. Some days I cant't even believe this is the life I lead. Most of the unsatisfaction comes from my career and those are the days when I'm asking myself "I went to college for this?" I feel like I want to do so many things but can't figure out a way to get there. But then sometimes I feel like I don't know what I want to do, but I know it's not this. It's hard too because I went from living in the huge city of Dallas with lots of opportunities, to living in my small town with not much opportunity and everyone vying for the same spots. Trying to stay positive is all but lost on me today. Feeling lost and frustrated and eager all at the same time. Wine tonight. Definitely wine.

New Find!

I know I already posted today, but I came across something right now that I just had to share!

I'm always looking for healthier alternatives to sweets to take with me for lunch during the week. I've tried bringing peanut butter and celery, apple sauce, organic hazelnut butter, and even just a diet sierra mist to satisfy my sweet tooth. I figure all of those are much better to munch on than a candy bar from the vending machine.

Today at Wal-Mart while shopping I rounded a corner to an aisle cap display that had these babies on them...

I grabbed Dark Chocolate and also Peanut Butter because they were only $2 a box. I already love the Nature Valley regular granola bars so I was pretty sure I was going to like these as well. I was wrong. I freaking love them!

I tried one right now and the granola is actually a lot less hard and stiff like their regular bars. The chocolate is soft and yummy as well. And Bonus! they're only 80 calories! The perfect sweet to pack in my lunch for work.

I'm so going back to buy more boxes! Just wanted to share my new favorite! xo

I Got The Itch!

It came on this afternoon without any warning. An itch. An itch to create something. It all started when I was getting dressed for the day today. I was curling my hair, feeling good, and decided to throw on a stack of random bracelets.

Exhibit A:

What kind of loser takes pictures of herself while she's getting ready? Umm me. Duh.

Almost 25 and I feel like I finally semi-know how to do my makeup. Subtle, but there.

So after wearing this stack of bracelets + watch all day I decided I wanted more. So I spent 34896523874 hours at Michaels buying beads which turned into me making bracelets in front of the tv while The Last Song was on. (Is it just me or does Miley Cyrus look like she smells something bad the whole time in that movie?)

Anyways these are the finished products! Obviously I won't wear all of these at once because it's a little over-kill, but for photos sake I put them all on. I love them! And now I have an urge to go buy more beads and do different designs with them! New. Obsession.

Love getting to be creative all day instead of sitting behind a desk all day! Now it's off to my sad Monday night sans The Bachelorette. xo

How You Like Them Apples?

So my weekend is not over yet. I had a whopping FIVE days off this weekend, purely by chance, from work! I got Friday-Tuesday off and because of that will have to work a Wednesday-Saturday shift this week. It's an awkward shift to work, but I only have to do it every once in awhile so it doesn't bother me too much.

So what's a girl to do with so many days off? Make some spice cupcakes that's what! Mmmmmmmm....

Spice cake cupcakes with whipped butter cream frosting. Yes please!

Wake Up and Smell The Post-It Notes

(A book my grandma got me when I was little. She used to read it to me all the time and it's still one of my fave's to go back and read again. It still smells the same as it did back when I first got it)

A couple days ago I went to Wal-Mart to pick up some groceries, but as I was walking through the doors I was instantly side tracked by the realization that it was my favorite shopping season of the year, evidenced by all the new merchandise around. BACK-TO-SCHOOL-SUPPLY SHOPPING!!

I'm not sure how I got to be so enamored with this part of school, but shopping for brand new pens and pencils, new glossy folders and chunky notebooks is one of my favorite things to do of ALL time!

I love walking through the aisle and picking out cleverly designed folders and binders, bright highlighters, and cute pencil bags. The tradition for me was to come home after school supply shopping and organize all my school supply buys in my backpack. I took each item out of its package and placed it neatly in my (usually new) bag and got it all ready for the first day at school.

I sound like such a nerdy creep. BUT as I got older the backpack turned into a messenger bag (Paul Frank, loved) and then a Jessica Simpson tote (in college), but the supplies I bought usually always stayed the same.

I used to LOVE the RSVP pens, but now I buy the Bic Crystal ones, which I just got a pack of! I also got three brightly colored sticky notes in fuchsia, pink, and orange. Yum!

Buying school supplies for the job I have now is pretty lame because I can't go all out with the usual things, but I figure stickies and pens aren't crossing the line too much.

And when I opened my first pack of sticky notes the first thing I did (besides writing a note to myself) was flip through the pile and smell it. (Weird?) Yes. But I love the smell of a freshly opened pack of stickies. It got me thinking about all the other odd things I like the smell of:

Books from the library: The older the better! Like this one...

Love the dedication

It's actually about a boy named Jet, but my grandma didn't care, she always read the "he" as "she"!

The Post Office: Something about the mix of ink and paper and old metal P.O. boxes makes me want to stand in there all day!

The Boyfriends Jeep: When we first started dating he would pick me up in his lifted Jeep 4x4. It still smells that same, a mix of cologne, dirt/dust, and breath mints.

Gasoline:  Normal or racing fuel...take your pick!

What are some of your favorite smells?!
xo

OH and was I right or was I right?! She picked JP! YAY! Love them together!

how the heck do y'all do it?!

So my intention for this week was to jump right back into blogging after my week vacation. But then I started  taking Zumba classes. I am having the hardest time balancing work, fitness, cooking dinner, random errands, sleep, and videos with blogging.

How the heck does everyone do it?! I guess I need to start writing multiple posts and schedule them to appear? It's just that usually during the day something happens or comes to my mind and I'm like "I need to blog that!"

Because of this inability to balance/manage my time I haven't posted since Sunday. Boo for me.  Uggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Hopefully I'll get on the ball tonight. Please tell me your secrets of balance though!! xo
