I'm Back

Super creative title. I know. Anyways I'm back! I've been in the mountains for a whole week camping. We fished, we cooked every meal, and we were technology free for 7 days! It was so hard to not be able to check my blog, write posts, and make videos, but in the end it was nice to kind of fall off the map for a little while.

Being out in the woods definitely makes you appreciate modern technology a lot more. I missed having normal water pressure and a down comforter around. But I think I missed stalking everyone on blogs the most.

I have 4671021375 blogs to catch up on and I'm really excited about that! Sometimes I get sad when I realize I've read every dang post someone has and then I'm like biting at the dust for another post to arrive. But not this week, I have a million to read and I couldn't be more happy.

Oh! And I dyed my hair! I did it the day before we left for the mountains. It's a lot darker with small highlights throughout. The highlights aren't super blonde, she toned them to a warm caramel color. I love it and am so happy with the results. It's exactly what I wanted! What do you think?

Tutorial: Curly Hair to Beachy Waves!

Impeccable Pig

This dress is from a little boutique in Dallas called "Impeccable Pig". Rather strange name, I know, but really cute unique clothing finds. Like seriously, who names their clothing boutique with the word "pig" in the name? Weird. Whatever. Moving on.

I spotted this dress a couple years ago there and immediately wanted to buy it. Something about the random prints thrown together had me at hello. My coworkers who were with me at the time were like "Jet...that looks strange on the hanger. You sure you like that one??" Ummmm yeah. I do.

I just like the quirky mix of an old school floral print flowy skirt with black and white stripes. It's an unexpected combination I guess is what I'm getting at.

These are the most comfortable wedges in the world! They're SODA brand and I'm pretty sure I got them at Charlotte Russe..but I could be wrong.

It's so worn out now. The top portion is beginning to pill! I fa-reaking hate that. But I just can't bear to toss it just yet. Not until I find a suitable replacement at least.

Anyways, still have a Pretty Little Liars on my DVR to watch, so I better get to it. Priorities people. Priorities. xo

LoverLee in My Life This Week

THE yummiest recipe I've ever made, 'Crisp Black Bean Tacos with Feta and Slaw. I saw this recipe, here, and decided I had to try it. I like it straight vegetarian like the recipe calls for, but the boyfriend added chicked to his and loved it just the same!

There's white corn tortillas goldened in a skillet with olive oil, black beans with cumin and salt, homemade slaw of green cabbage, cilantro, green onions, and mucho mucho lime juice. Yum! Top it off with feta cheese and your favorite hot sauce and you've go the perfect easy peazy summer dinner. LOVED IT!

About to go on vacation next week, so I picked up some new books to indulge in!

Also got one for the boyfriend as a surprise. He loves to read business books and books about how companies got to be so successful.

It's the middle of the week people, and I could not be more happy.

Did y'all watch The Bachelorette this Monday? I felt soooo bad for Ames. He's a super nice guy and I really hope he finds a lady. He would probably be the most unique 'Bachelor' if they chose him. Hmmmmmm. Anyways I'm still rooting for JP and Ashley to get married and have baybees. xo

Dressing Like A...Bilson (and a Thief!!!)

Sooooooo guess what? I go to Albertson's after work today to pick up some stuff for dinner. I get all my ingredients, get in line, and proceed to check out. Slide my card, punched in my PIN, waited...waited...waited...DENIED!!!!

So I thought, "B.S!" and slid the card again, punched in my PIN, and waited. I was access denied again. What the heck? So now all the people behind me are thinking "Great, we got behind the chick who doesn't have any money in her checking account."

So not true!! I got paid last night! Not important though. What is important, is that my card didn't go through. I was frustrated, and a little embarrassed, but used my credit card (which I just. paid. off.) and that was that.

As I walked out of Albertsons I decided that it was definitely their machine and I would go get my car washed at the automatic car wash thingy.

Soooo I'm in line, I roll up to the little "choose your wash" thing and slide in my card. In big red letters it said "Denied. DO NOT HONOR CARD". So now I'm really frustrated. What the heck is going on? So I buy the dang $5.00 car wash on my credit card and get going.

As I'm inside the car wash, I log onto my bank on my phone and check my account. Yep. A million dollars is still sitting pretty in my little checking account. So I decide to call the bank and let them know what's going on.

Turns out, some dumb/mean/probably-doesn't-have-a-job-and-doesn't-know-what-working-hard-for-cash-money-is-all-about person tried to spend $306 of my hard earned money at Wal-Mart today!!!

Ruuuuude! The bank told me the person tried to manually enter my debit card number, but got denied and the money didn't go through. That's when my smarty-pants bank put a hold on my card so this person couldn't attempt anymore purchases.

I mean, what did they buy for $306? That's a crap ton of stuff you can get at Wal-Mart. For reals.

Needless to say, I got my card shut down just to be safe and a fresh and new one is on its way in the mail as we speak.

Some people man. I don't sit at my desk and play Angry Birds all day for nothing! I work hard for that dinero!

Thank you Ingrid Michaelson (photo is of her above) for reminding me to not be so hard on myself and to worry less about small stuff. She is by far one of my MOST favorite singers. Check her out if you haven't heard of her. I'm sure you'll recognize some of her songs once you listen to them. Her songs are always featured on Grey's Anatomy and lots of commercials.

I love when music has a little depth to the songs. None of this "tick-tock on the clock, brushing my teeth with bottles of Jack" crap. My Pandora radio is always on: Ingrid Michaelson radio, Adele radio, or Sara Bareilles radio. Add a little MGMT, The Perishers, and Metric to the mix and you've got the perfect music cocktail.

TMI

It's amazing what people will divulge to complete strangers. Take my 3rd meeting for jury duty today (I got excused...yes!) people will just tell you anything! While sitting in a room of 12 people I learned that one guy has a 10 year old daughter who lives in California and who he's court ordered to go visit every other Friday. Then there's the guy that told us about his divorce from his first wife who told him "I'm leaving, you can file for divorce." And then there was an older lady that kept talking about the tornados she's been in back in Oklahoma and Missouri when she was little. I just sat back and listened to people tell their whole life's story. In some situations I'm very open like this, but in this case I just bit my tongue.

Anyways, now that my first brush with jury duty is over and done I feel I can finally breathe! We had vacation planned for the end of next week so I was worried if I got picked I'd have to cancel the vacay plans. That would have sucked.

This little number I just picked up from Target like 2 days ago. It was $20 and came in this color and a gray with red stripe color too! Super adorable and easy to dress up or down.

Jury Duty

After 3 hours of sitting, after being summoned for my first jury duty, I am exhausted! And bonus, they want me to come back tomorrow at 10. Round two of sitting and waiting coming right up!

Even my hair is exhausted. I was going to do an outfit of the day post, but then I decided I'd rather eat a bagel with strawberry cream cheese instead and then take a shower.

Judging by this fluffy and fly-away hair, I'd say a shower is a good choice.

Blaaah. Tuesday.

Classy

Went to San Diego this past weekend and we stayed at a real classy place. Ha. Just kidding. We stayed at a cheapy place this weekend because we were hardly ever in the room. But cheap doesn't exactly describe this place..it was in definite need of an upgrade for sure.

 But I couldn't resist taking a photo on the super chic comforter though! haha And yeah, that bed is a Full size. The boyfriend is 6'3"..it was a snug fit to say the least. Yessssss.

Polka Dot Princess

One of my recent Forever 21 purchases from when I went to Vegas last week! If you've watched my latest YouTube video you'll recognize this bright orange polka dot top from my haul.

I love how this is something completely one of a kind in my closet and I can't wait to try it out with skinny jeans for a night out! Dressed this down a bit with my denim cutoffs, but couldn't resist throwing on some neutral wedges. These BCBG ones are just the right color.

Shredded & Cats

Finally had the chance to sit down and watch the Pretty Little Liars episode from this week. The episode was alright, but as soon as Aria arrived on the screen wearing this black Guess shirt I rushed to the computer to find out who it was made by. Turns out it's Guess by Marciano, which is one of my favorite brands, and I just love this top! Super cute (I say super WAY. TOO. MUCH.) and a totally different take on the little black shirt.

Side note. Why the heck can't my eyebrows look like that? Grooooww. 

I love how it's something completely different and a definite standout in your closet! This looped sleeve top comes in purple or black on the Guess website. It's priced at $78 which is way out of my price range to spend on one top. Looks like I'll be waiting for a sale to happen. Hey Guess, get on that pronto. Thanks.

OH! And remember when I told y'all that we had a cat in our wall last week? Well it turns out it was two baby kittens! The little cuties had been living in our attic in a tiny corner of the house right where I was hearing the noise! Because of the holiday we had to keep them in the garage until the humane society was open, but we dropped them off over there today!

The one with the darker spots on her head was so sweet and nice and the other one was SO mean. He hissed at me EVERY time I put a bowl of milk in there for them. Ruuuude cat.

Poor little guys. Hopefully they'll find a good home!

Minka Kelly Love

Have you ever watched Friday Night Lights? Chyeah. Minka Kelly is gorgeous and fresh faced in that show. Now that she's no longer on that series, I keep seeing photos of her popping up around the celebrity gossip sites and every time I see her I comment in my head how well put together she is.

She seems down to earth and friendly and did I mention she's Derek Jeter's girlfriend? Be jealous. Her style on the red carpet is flawless, but I also love how when she's not at Hollywood events she dresses like a normal 20 something.

I think I want to dye my hair her color now. Sheesh.

Look how laid back she is at the baseball games. Love it! She's not the type that always has to be made up.

So if y'all watched my recent Haul video on Youtube, you might recognize this top I'm wearing. I picked it up at Forever 21 in Las Vegas for about $15.

It's such a cozy shirt and I couldn't resist wearing it last night to a family get together. It's lightweight enough that I can wear it in the Arizona heat and I just love the cut of the shirt how it's shorter in the front and longer in the back.

We Have A Cat In Our Wall

(this isn't the actual cat in our wall...but I needed a visual)

For reals. There is a cat or kitten in our wall. I've been hearing this scratching noise for a couple weeks and also some meowing, but I assumed it was a cat outside our house climbing up our wall or something.

Then one day while sitting in our living room on the couch, I felt like the scratching was coming from inside our wall. I told boyfriend this and he looked at me like I was losing it and brushed it off. Well last night when I got home the poor thing was meowing and scratching like crazy and I knew it was definitely coming from inside our wall.

I even filmed it so I had proof of said meowing and scratching. The boyfriend came home just in time to hear the little guy going off and he finally believed me that there was indeed a cat in our wall.

So now here's the fun part. Boyfriend went up in the attic and also on the roof to see if he could spot the hole to where he got into our house from. Unfortunately, the boyfriend can't get over to Wilfred (I named the kitty Wilfred) from where the attic is, so now we've called his cousin who is a fireman and he and his crew are coming tomorrow morning to help get the cat out.

Poor Wilfred. Please pray for him. I hate cats, but I feel SO incredibly bad for this kitten. You can just hear him crying all day and I'm sure he's hungry and hot. Poor baby. I'll keep y'all posted on the cat happenings. I'm also thinking of posting the video I took of the cat meowing. Poor guy.
