SKIN CARE ROUTINE

Up until a year or two ago I was still getting pimples and blemishes on my face, chest, and back on the regular. I was like "really? I'm 23?" It sucks when that happens. And usually for me it happened right before we had some event to go to. Shitty.

It has taken me a long time before I've finally found the magic cocktail that works for me. And I'm so thankful I have and now it's time to share it with everyone.

One rule I try to live by, I read it in a magazine somewhere, is no matter how tired, how drunk, how sick I am, always wash your face & take off your makeup before you go to bed. Always. There have been nights where all I want to do is lay down, but I force myself to wash my face first. I think it has really helped my skin, not sleeping in yesterdays makeup.

IN THE SHOWER:

Everytime I shower, I always wash my chest and back, and sometimes my face, with Cetaphil. This is a miracle wash for me. It has cleared up my chest so much. I can't live without it. I usually get mine at the grocery store or Target and I want to say it's around 8-9 dollars. I rub it into my chest and back and will leave it on while I'm shaving or putting in conditioner or something. Then just rinse it off.

The other thing I use in the shower is my St. Ives Apricot Scrub. I scrub my whole body at least once a week to remove dead skin and stuff like perfumes, lotions, and whatever else. I'd say I usually scrub my face with it twice a month...I don't want to over scrub my face. If I use the scrub then I'll use Cetaphil after. That way my skin is fresh and the Cetaphil can soak in better.

AT THE SINK (AND SOMETIMES SHOWER):

These next two products I use together. I discovered the St. Ives Green Tea Facial Cleanser a couple years ago off a commercial. I had a lot of redness going on and I remember the commercial specifically saying the green tea reduced the redness. So I bought it. And now I can't go anywhere without it. IT'S THE BEST THING FOR MY FACE. Even if I didn't have the scrub or the Cetaphil I would still have the green tea cleanser.  It's that good.

It's great at taking off my makeup and getting rid of the dirt and grime from the day. I even have JT hooked on it too.

So I used to use this green tea cleanser on its own, but then I felt like I needed something to take off the makeup first and then follow up with the cleanser. So I bought the Philosophy Purity Cleanser. I got it at Sephora where the girl told me that it not only removes all your makeup, but you can clean your brushes with it too. It's multi-purpose I guess.

This stuff is awesome though, it's gentle and rich on your skin and removes all your makeup. So I use this first and then follow it with the Green Tea Cleanser.

MOISTURIZER:

I always felt like moisturizer's weren't necessary and that they were sort of all greasy. So when I went to Sephora couple years ago the girl showed me this Clinique Moisturizing Gel. It's different from their usualy moisturizing lotion. The gel is for people who have more oily skin or combination like me. It sort of matte-ifys your skin. Takes out the shine, but still moisturizes. I don't know how it works, but it's the best shit I've ever bought and I will continue to use it always.

So there you have it. That's my skin care routine! My skin is clear and blemish free and the BB cream I'm using has seemed to lighten any dark spots I have. This cocktail of cleansers and lotion have worked for me and I hope it might help you too if you're in the market for something new!
