WEDDING VENUE: 1st choice

I feel like the first step in my wedding planning process should be picking a venue. From there I can decide time of year, number of guests, and so on.
I was kicking around the idea of getting married back in Dallas, but I decided it would be too much hassle, not to mention money, for all my guests to get there.
So now I'm looking a little closer to home which is going semi-well. And by semi-well I mean I can't find what I'm looking for and am getting disappointed in the process...
I'm in love with the idea of a barn reception. I want something rustic and romantic. I would settle for a winery or old mill too, but a barn is my ideal setting.
When you search Google for a barn venue in AZ you get slim results. VERY SLIM. I'm talking like 1 location in the whole freaking state. So I'm trying to find something with the same atmosphere as a barn would have and this is one of those venues I've been looking into.

Welcome to El Chorro. Not too sure I like the idea of getting married somewhere named El Chorro, but this might be my only option. This venue is in Paradise Valley, Arizona just outside of Scottsdale. I'm not sure of the cost or packages available yet because I just emailed them last night, but I'm hoping they'r reasonable. Fingers crossed!

It seems to be the most beautiful setting at the base of the Camelback Mountain. With indoor/outdoor entertaining area and rustic surroundings it appears to be just what I'm looking for. I MUST have twinkly lights so this photo of their outdoor dining option was love at first sight. I really want to see it in person first though, because I don't want it to be right next to some random parking lot or something.

This is their outdoor patio area. For the Fall wedding I'm planning I think having these fireplaces is going to be amazing. I can just see all my friends and family outside sipping on cocktails and eating finger foods.

They also have a lawn where you can do an outside ceremony, which is not something I ever pictured doing necessarily, but I'm so stoked about it now. Especially in October in Arizona. The weather will be PERFECT!

So anyways, this is my first choice. Still waiting to hear back from them, but I'll keep ya posted!

Fingers crossed! Getting married at a place called El Chorro would remind me of going to a state fair and eating too many churros, but it would make for a fun story. And when the venue, looks this amazing, who really cares or will remember what it's called?

haha me too! I know I wish it was called something more romantic like "Estancia" or something haha

So true! The most basic step in planning a wedding is choosing a venue. It can be stressful to find out that the venue isn’t available after everything else has been planned out perfectly. Therefore, the venue MUST be prioritized, and the rest of the plan will fall into place.
